IVF cost breakdown for one cycle
A standard IVF cycle with a fresh embryo transfer costs ₹1,60,000 – ₹3,56,000. Each line below is a range, because medicine doses and lab work depend on your age and reports.
The total at the bottom is simply the sum of the lines. Nothing is hidden inside a package price.
| What it covers | Cost |
|---|---|
| Consultation and diagnosisDoctor visits before treatment | ₹1,000 – ₹5,000 |
| Pre-IVF testsHormones, AMH, infection screening, semen analysis | ₹7,000 – ₹18,000 |
| Stimulation medicinesDepends on age, AMH and body weight | ₹25,000 – ₹60,000 |
| Sperm preparationWashing and selecting sperm in the lab | ₹2,000 – ₹8,000 |
| Anaesthesia for egg collectionShort anaesthesia, same-day discharge | ₹5,000 – ₹15,000 |
| IVF procedureEgg collection, fertilisation, embryo culture and fresh transfer | ₹1,20,000 – ₹2,50,000 |
| Total per cycle | ₹1,60,000 – ₹3,56,000 |
Figures as of 27 October 2026. Your exact cost is given in writing after your consultation and tests.
The largest single item is the IVF procedure itself. It covers egg collection, fertilisation in the lab, growing the embryos and placing one back in the uterus. Stimulation medicines are the second-largest item and vary the most from couple to couple.

The quickest way to know your real cost is to share your reports. The doctor reviews them and gives you a written, itemised estimate before any treatment starts.
What one IVF cycle involves
One cycle takes about four to six weeks from the first visit to the pregnancy test. Each stage below matches a line in the cost table.
- Consultation and testsThe doctor reviews your history and orders hormone tests, AMH, an ultrasound, infection screening and a semen analysis.
- Ovarian stimulationThe wife takes daily injections for about 10 to 12 days so that several eggs grow. Scans and blood tests track progress.
- Egg collectionEggs are collected under short anaesthesia through a fine needle. Most women go home the same day.
- Fertilisation and embryo cultureThe eggs are mixed with prepared sperm in the lab, and the embryos grow for three to five days.
- Embryo transferOne embryo is placed in the uterus through a thin, soft tube. No anaesthesia is usually needed.
- Pregnancy testA blood test about two weeks after the transfer shows whether the cycle has worked.
Extra costs, only if your case needs them
Many couples need nothing beyond the base cycle. Others need one or two extras, depending on sperm quality, embryo numbers or past treatment. The doctor tells you in advance which ones apply and why.
| Item | When it applies | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| ICSI | Low sperm count or motility, or earlier failed fertilisation | ₹20,000 – ₹50,000 |
| Blastocyst culture (day 5) | Growing embryos to day 5 before transfer | ₹10,000 – ₹25,000 |
| Embryo freezing | When extra good embryos are available | ₹15,000 – ₹40,000 |
| Embryo or egg storage, per year | After the first year of freezing | ₹5,000 – ₹15,000 |
| Frozen embryo transfer (FET) cycle | Using a frozen embryo in a later cycle | ₹40,000 – ₹80,000 |
| Assisted hatching | Some repeated-failure or frozen-embryo cases | ₹10,000 – ₹25,000 |
| Preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) | Only when medically advised | ₹75,000 – ₹3,00,000 |
| TESA / PESA (surgical sperm retrieval) | No sperm in the semen sample | ₹30,000 – ₹60,000 |
| Hysteroscopy or laparoscopy | If the uterus or tubes need treatment first | ₹40,000 – ₹1,00,000 |
| Donor egg programme | Very low AMH or repeated poor egg quality | ₹70,000 – ₹1,80,000 |
| Donor sperm | When no usable sperm is available | ₹5,000 – ₹15,000 |
The most common extras are ICSI, embryo freezing and a later frozen embryo transfer. If ICSI is likely in your case, see the ICSI cost breakdown. Genetic testing of embryos is used only when there is a clear medical reason.
Simpler treatments and egg freezing
IVF is not always the first step. For some couples, IUI or medicines alone are worth trying first, and they cost far less.
| Treatment | Includes | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| IUI, per cycle | Including washed sperm preparation | ₹10,000 – ₹25,000 |
| Egg freezing (one cycle) | Stimulation, collection and freezing; storage extra | ₹1,50,000 – ₹2,50,000 |
Your doctor will suggest the simplest treatment that has a fair chance in your situation. If IVF is needed, the reasons are explained in plain terms.
What changes the cost of IVF
Two couples having IVF at the same clinic can pay quite different amounts. These are the main reasons.
- Age and egg reserve. A lower AMH often needs higher medicine doses, which raises the medicine cost.
- Sperm quality. A low count or poor motility usually means ICSI. No sperm in the sample may need surgical retrieval.
- Number of good embryos. Extra embryos can be frozen for later use, which adds freezing and storage costs.
- Uterus and tubes. A polyp, fibroid or blocked tube may need hysteroscopy or laparoscopy before IVF.
- Timing of transfer. Some couples are advised a frozen transfer in a later cycle instead of a fresh one.
- Number of cycles. Some couples conceive in the first cycle; others need more than one.
Success depends mainly on age, egg reserve, sperm quality and embryo quality. The doctor explains your realistic chances after your tests, so you can plan your budget with that in mind.
Why a cheap headline offer can mislead
Low IVF prices in advertisements often cover only part of a cycle. The rest appears later as separate bills. Before you compare clinics, ask each one the same questions.
What to check in any IVF quote
- Are stimulation medicines included, and for how many days?
- Are pre-IVF tests, scans and anaesthesia included?
- Is ICSI part of the price or charged separately?
- Does the price include embryo culture to day 5, freezing and the first year of storage?
- If the first transfer fails, what does a frozen embryo transfer cost?
- Is the clinic registered under the ART (Regulation) Act, 2021?
- Will you get the estimate in writing, line by line?
A quote that answers all these questions is easier to compare than one single figure. Our estimates follow the same lines as the tables on this page.
Costs that are not part of the medical estimate
Some spending sits outside any clinic quote, and it helps to plan for it early. Couples from other cities pay for travel and a few nights of stay in Delhi. Some may also need tests repeated if old reports are out of date.
If the cycle leads to pregnancy, early pregnancy scans and antenatal care are separate from the IVF cost. Ask the doctor which reports you can bring from home to avoid paying twice.
Paying for IVF: EMI and financing
Some couples spread the cost of IVF using EMI options from banks, finance companies or credit cards. Terms, interest and eligibility differ between lenders, so read the conditions carefully before you sign.
Ask the lender about the total amount repaid, not just the monthly figure. Plan for the possibility of a second cycle or a frozen transfer when you decide how much to borrow.
IVF cost by city
All treatment takes place at our clinic in Delhi, led by Dr. Sunita Singh Rathore. Couples from other cities pay the same medical cost as Delhi couples. Many tests can be done in your own city and reviewed on WhatsApp, so you travel only for the key steps.
