From Varanasi, every visit to Delhi takes planning. A flight is about 1 hour 25 minutes, and the Vande Bharat Express around 8 hours. So for couples from the city and from districts across eastern Uttar Pradesh, the number of trips matters almost as much as the IVF price.
The price itself is simple. A Varanasi couple pays exactly what a Delhi couple pays for the same treatment. The table below shows each line, so each part of the price is visible.
The trips can be kept few. A lab in Varanasi can do the blood tests, AMH and semen analysis; Dr. Sunita Singh Rathore then reviews the reports on WhatsApp. In some cases, freezing embryos and transferring them in a later cycle also lets you split the Delhi stays, as explained further down.

IUI and egg freezing for eastern UP couples
IUI needs fewer clinic steps than IVF and may be tried first in some cases. Egg freezing is one cycle of stimulation and collection, with storage charged separately.
| Treatment | Includes | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| IUI, per cycle | Including washed sperm preparation | ₹10,000 – ₹25,000 |
| Egg freezing (one cycle) | Stimulation, collection and freezing; storage extra | ₹1,50,000 – ₹2,50,000 |
Fitting an IVF cycle around the journey from Varanasi
The longest stretch in Delhi is around egg collection. Plan to be in Delhi for the last few days of stimulation and for the collection. In a fresh cycle, the transfer follows a few days later.
The doctor gives you exact dates after the first scans. Until then, stimulation injections are taken at home, usually for about 10 to 12 days. Egg collection day itself is for resting, so plan no journey that day.
Choose the overnight train or a flight for short visits, and the Vande Bharat when you want to arrive a day early.
Freeze now, transfer later: fewer long stays
In a freeze-all approach, embryos are frozen after collection and transferred in a later cycle. For some couples this is medically preferred; for couples who live far away it also breaks a long stay into two shorter visits.
Freeze-all adds embryo freezing at ₹15,000 – ₹40,000 and a frozen embryo transfer cycle at ₹40,000 – ₹80,000. The doctor decides whether it suits your case. Read how it works on our frozen embryo transfer page.
Reading the IVF bill line by line
Six lines make up a standard cycle. Two of them carry most of the variation.
- The IVF procedure: collecting the eggs, fertilising them, growing the embryos and a fresh transfer. This is the largest line.
- Stimulation medicines: the dose is set by age, AMH and body weight, so this line differs most between women.
- Consultation, pre-IVF tests, sperm preparation and anaesthesia: smaller lines, but all included in the total.
ICSI, when advised, adds ₹20,000 – ₹50,000. It is used mainly for low sperm count or motility, or failed fertilisation before.
Tests to finish in eastern UP before you travel
The first Delhi visit is far more useful when the reports arrive before you do. Most of the pre-IVF workup does not need the clinic.
- Hormone blood tests and AMH, which show egg reserve.
- Infection screening for both partners.
- Semen analysis for the husband.
- Any earlier scan, surgery or treatment records you already hold.
Send them on WhatsApp once ready. The doctor tells you whether anything else is needed before the first trip, so you do not travel twice for one missing report.
When IUI may come before IVF
For some couples, IUI is a reasonable first step. It costs ₹10,000 – ₹25,000 per cycle and needs fewer clinic steps. It may suit women with open tubes when sperm counts are fair. When tubes are blocked or egg reserve is low, IVF is usually the better route. Consult your doctor, since the choice depends on your reports.
Comparing with an IVF centre in Varanasi
You may also have a quote from a clinic nearer home. To compare fairly, ask each IVF centre for the same six lines, plus freezing, storage and frozen transfer.
Check that the centre is registered under the ART (Regulation) Act, 2021. Ask, too, how many embryos the centre transfers at once, since transferring more than advised raises the risk of a multiple pregnancy. Then add your travel cost to the quote that needs it. The IVF cost in India page explains what typically moves the price. Success depends mainly on age, egg reserve, sperm quality and embryo quality, so consult your doctor about your own chances.
