Reading the registry when your city shows no match
An empty result for "Kanpur" is worth a second search. The city may appear in another form in a clinic's address.
- Search for "Kanpur Nagar" and "Kanpur Dehat", the two district names.
- Search for "Uttar Pradesh" and scan the addresses.
- Try the clinic's own name if someone has suggested one to you.
If you still find nothing, note the date of your search. Search again before signing anything, since new entries appear.
Check that you are on the surrogacy clinic list. A clinic that appears only on the ART list can offer IVF but not surrogacy.
Five checks before you pay any clinic
Run these in order. If a clinic fails the first, the rest do not matter.

- Treating doctor: know who plans and oversees your case.
- Written estimate: itemised, with package, conditional extras and legal-process costs shown apart.
- Legal compliance: the clinic should state plainly that the surrogate receives only medical and prescribed expenses plus 36-month insurance.
If a clinic offers to pay the surrogate a fee, walk away. Such a payment is commercial surrogacy and a crime under the 2021 Act.
A day-trip clinic or one in your own city
For Kanpur couples the trade-off is unusually mild. Delhi is about five hours away by Shatabdi or Vande Bharat, so a clinic there does not mean long absences from work.
