A second option for couples in eastern UP

Dr. Sunita Singh Rathore, Gynecologist and IVF Specialist, Delhi Medical Council Reg. No. 18257.

With one listed clinic in the city, some couples want another view before deciding. Dr. Sunita Singh Rathore can review your reports on WhatsApp, and if you choose us, treatment is at our Delhi clinic.

For a city of its size, Varanasi has very few registered surrogacy clinics. On the public registry list we checked, one surrogacy clinic gave a Varanasi address, in the Sigra area.

That matters for couples across eastern Uttar Pradesh, because the nearest choice may be the only local one. Couples from the region often travel to Delhi, which is about 1 hour 25 minutes by air or around 8 hours by Vande Bharat Express.

Below you will find the Varanasi registry entry and how to check it. We also set out what to compare between a clinic in Varanasi and one further away. We do not rate or rank other clinics.

Families who completed surrogacy

  • Shalini and Deepak travelled from Kolkata to Delhi for treatment. One coordinator kept a single checklist for their travel, certificates, IVF and delivery, so they always knew the next step.

  • Gurpreet and Mandeep came to Delhi from Chandigarh. They wanted a team that understood the Surrogacy Act, and careful screening of the surrogate and a complete legal file mattered most to them.

How to check the Varanasi entry yourself

A registry entry is only useful if it matches the clinic in front of you. Take two minutes to confirm it.

  1. Open the public list of registered surrogacy clinics on the National ART & Surrogacy Registry.
  2. Search for Varanasi, then note the clinic's name, address and registration number.
  3. At the clinic, ask to see its surrogacy clinic certificate and check that all three details match.
  4. Confirm the clinic also holds ART registration, which is renewed every five years.

The same steps apply to any surrogacy centre you consider, in Varanasi, Delhi or elsewhere.

Choosing when there is one local clinic

With a single listed clinic, you are not comparing local options; you are deciding whether to stay local at all. Both choices are legitimate.

Staying in Varanasi means less travel and family close by on procedure days. Looking further means more registered clinics to compare, at the cost of trips and a few nights away. For couples from Jaunpur, Ghazipur or Mirzapur, even the Varanasi option involves a journey, which narrows the gap.

Do not decide on the clinic count alone. One registered clinic can suit one couple well and another not at all, depending on the doctor and the plan.

The fairest comparison is two itemised written estimates side by side, with travel added to the one that needs it. Our surrogacy cost in Varanasi page shows how our figures break down.

For couples living outside Varanasi city

The registry lists clinics by address, not by the districts they serve. If you live in Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Chandauli or Mirzapur, search the list for your own district too.

If nothing appears there, your options are the same as for a couple in Varanasi city: the Sigra clinic, or a registered clinic in another city. The difference is that every option now includes a road journey, so compare total travel time rather than distance alone.

A lab close to home can usually handle the tests, with reports shared on WhatsApp. Ask any clinic you consider whether it reviews outside reports, and how.

What to ask a registered surrogacy hospital

Registration tells you a clinic is allowed to offer surrogacy. These questions tell you how it will handle your case.

  • Which doctor will plan our treatment and stay with us through it?
  • How many embryo transfer attempts does the estimate include? The law permits up to three with the same surrogate.
  • Does the estimate cover the surrogate's 36-month insurance, and who arranges it?
  • Which tests can we do near home, and how will you review them?
  • What happens to the cost if a caesarean or twin delivery is needed?

Certificates do not depend on the clinic's city

It is easy to assume that a Delhi clinic means Delhi paperwork. The rule is different: the board that matters is the District Medical Board for the state where you live or work.

That board's appropriate authority then grants the essentiality certificate, and both certificates are valid for one year. Your advocate handles the filing. The parentage and custody order is issued later by a Magistrate's court. See the order of steps on our process and certificates page.
